Print the pages you actually need
Gather the final versions of your lecture notes, reading extracts and assignments. Export editable files as PDFs so headings, equations and page breaks stay in place. Check whether your lecturer accepts an electronic submission before paying for a paper copy.
For revision, select the chapters or slides you will use. Several slides on a page can save paper, but print a readable layout: small diagrams and dense equations often need a full page. Export that layout into the PDF before uploading.
Keep a useful study copy affordable
Black-and-white printing suits most text. Choose colour when it carries meaning in graphs, diagrams or annotations. Compare the complete quote for each option. Double-sided printing uses fewer sheets; leave room for notes if you plan to write on the pages.
Keep different subjects in separate files and give them clear names. For a group, confirm the number of complete copies and check that you have permission to reproduce the material.
Coursework and binding
Follow the course instructions for paper size, margins, page order and single-sided or double-sided submission. A dissertation may have different requirements from an ordinary assignment. Check binding and finishing with the provider before relying on them.
A large file or bound document needs production time as well as transport time. Choose a deadline that leaves room to inspect the result and resolve a file problem.
