How to print documents without a printer

Need a paper copy without owning a printer? Compare a local copy shop, library and paperboy, then prepare your file and check delivery before ordering.

Check printing for my address

Choose the right way to get a paper copy

For a single form, ticket or CV, buying a printer also means buying ink, finding space and keeping it working. A local copy shop can be practical when you can collect the pages yourself. Ask about opening hours, file formats and any minimum charge before travelling.

Some libraries offer public printing. Check the library's own website for visitor access, payment methods and how to send a file. Facilities differ between branches.

With paperboy, you upload a document and enter the delivery address. The available print and fulfilment options, price and timing appear before payment. Availability depends on the actual order and address.

Prepare a file that prints the way you expect

A PDF is a useful starting point because it preserves page layout. Open the file first and check that every page is present, the text is readable and the paper size matches what you need. Export a fresh PDF if a form's filled fields disappear in the preview.

Decide whether you need colour, single-sided or double-sided pages and how many copies. For official paperwork, follow the receiving organisation's instructions on paper size, signatures and originals. Printing a scan does not turn it into a certified copy.

Check the quote before you pay

Upload the document in paperboy, enter the address and review the options returned for that job. Check the total price and timing before confirming payment. A country on the research map does not establish delivery availability for your address.

For a deadline, compare the quoted timing with the time you need the pages in hand. If no suitable option appears, a local shop or library may be more practical. Do not assume a universal one-hour delivery time.

Need a signature as well as a printout?

paperboy Sign lets you prepare a PDF for signatures and invite people by link. If you also need a physical copy, check the print and delivery options for the destination separately. Use the Sign page to see how the signing flow works.
