CV and résumé printing for interviews
Print a clear CV, résumé or cover letter. Check layout, paper, copies and timing before your interview.
Start with the version you want an employer to read
Export your CV or résumé as a PDF and open the exported file. Check your contact details, dates, links and page breaks. A cover letter should name the correct employer and role. Keep the editable source so you can make changes later.
Use the page size requested by the recipient, commonly A4 or Letter. Preview at actual size: text that looks comfortable on a large screen can be difficult to read on paper.
Choose paper and colour deliberately
A clean, readable print on ordinary document paper is a practical starting point. Select heavier or specialist paper only when the provider offers it and it suits the application. Follow an employer’s instructions over general styling advice.
Black-and-white works well for a text-led CV. If your design uses colour to separate sections, check that it remains readable in greyscale. A design portfolio may need a different colour or paper choice from the CV itself.
Plan complete sets
Count the people you expect to meet and any spare copies you want. Keep the CV and cover letter in the right order. Check whether you want single-sided pages or a double-sided set; the receiving organisation may have a preference.
Templates can help structure a document. Review every placeholder, remove unused sections and check the finished PDF. paperboy’s Printables hub includes resources for preparing documents.
Leave time before the interview
Upload the final PDF and review the available quote for your address. Allow time to inspect the print, protect it during travel and arrive at the interview. A same-day option depends on the actual order and provider availability.
If the deadline is close, check a local copy shop’s hours and ability to print your file. Keep a digital copy available as well.
